High waisted flares: here they are, and I’ve fallen for them too!

Flared jeans. High-waisted flares, as I’ve been telling you for a while, are back and more popular than ever. I’m super happy, had you noticed? Yes, because jeans are finally a bit “different” (if this can be said of jeans that keep coming back into fashion..) and especially with the high waist, like the ones I’m wearing, they give you endless legs…

Ethnic patterned jumpsuit. When we’re thinking about what to wear, perhaps for a special occasion (from weddings to date nights to work wear, to name but a few), we always think of dresses, skirts and trousers. But we hardly ever think of the humble jumpsuit, which is a one piece trousers and top combination, resolving your problem of what to wear (here I’m giving you a few ideas for how to wear them). I was recently invited to a wedding: the guests wore romantic dresses or trouser suits (myself included). One of my dear friends, however, wore a gorgeous jumpsuit, topped off with a pair of heels and a jacket, making her look so good that I thought: “Damn it, why didn’t I think of that?!”.

Yes, because the right jumpsuit is elegant, care-free, different, original and will make you stand out. No matter what age you are. So I gave it a go, with an elegant but not boring look, which is perfect both for a wedding and for a dinner party, or for a date or even a graduation ceremony. The jumpsuit I’m wearing in this photo is by Motivi (Spring Summer collection is online and in stores right now with a DISCOUNT!), and I decided to make it more elegant with a double-breasted jacket, a pair of heels and a chunky necklace.

What to wear to a wedding

What to wear to a wedding. Wedding season has arrived! Hundreds of you have asked me for advice on what to wear for ceremonies, especially weddings. Last year I already wrote a post about this but now it’s time to update it and refresh your memory with a few style rules but most importantly with new ideas for outfits (that will also work for Christening ceremonies and church services). Are you ready?

What to wear for a wedding: outfit ideas!

Wedding:

Don’t wear white. Ever. It’s not your wedding.
If there are bridesmaids, try and find out in advance what colour they will be wearing, and make sure you’re not wearing the same thing!
Don’t show too much skin. As well as being inappropriate, especially if it’s a religious ceremony, it’s just not the time and place: this isn’t the time for you to be at the centre of attention.
Pastel colours and prints (spots, flowers, stripes) are perfect.
Long dresses are better for evening ceremonies; short dresses for daytime ceremonies.
Hat or no hat? Yes but only for daytime ceremonies. I’d advise you to avoid enormous hats… unless you’re invited to the royal wedding!
Formal or informal? Try and find out as much information as possible before the wedding from the bride and groom or their families about the location and type of wedding. Every wedding has a specific dress code that should be adhered to. For example if the wedding is very chic and takes place in the evening, you MUST wear a long dress as a miniskirt would be inappropriate. On the contrary, if the wedding is during the daytime, a cocktail dress would be the suitable choice.

The same rules apply for Communions and Baptisms, but there are a few small differences that it is useful to remember:

These kinds of events are less formal than weddings but they are still formal events. Therefore you must always avoid clothes that are considered too casual (ripped jeans, sneakers…)
Hats and long dresses aren’t usually required for this kind of ceremony, unless they are particularly formal. Ask beforehand!

A pair of skinny jeans with ripped knees, for example. But with a very high-waisted cut (and that make your behind look pretty good, let’s say!). A cropped bomber jacket that goes perfectly with high-waisted jeans. And loads of bold black accessories, with a smattering of studs. What do you think of this look? Big hug, gals!

Springtime skirt suit: all in tartan!

The skirtsuit. Yes, I’m a fan of bare legs! So for me, getting to throw away my tights in spring isn’t that exciting because, and maybe I’m mad, I do this also in winter! All of you that follow me will know this already: there are certain looks that for me require bare legs. Of course, it’s not the sort of look that can be worn all day in the depths of winter but, if the occasion allows it, why not give it a go?

Of course, when spring arrives, getting your legs out in keeping with the “free the thighs” motto really is a pleasure. (Yes, even if we’re still a bit pale!). So today I’ve gone for a skirt suit, paired with a wintery biker book, a white shirt and voilà, a springtime look!
