Holidays In The Snow: Some Ideas between Corvara and Siusi Alp. Our Journey!
Holidays in the Snow. Almost a week ago, Giovanni and I spent a week on the mountain, on our wonderful Alps. As you probably know my love for the mountain is infinite. And after some holidays in Austria I decided to “go back to my roots”, looking for some relax and to make some new photo projects on our beloved Alps, more precisely in Alta Badia at Siusi Alp. Amazing uplands, unique valleys and the beautiful Dolomites, which are part of UNESCO World Heritage.
Holidays In The Snow: Some Ideas between Corvara and Siusi Alp!
First stop Corvara. During the trip to get there you should stop at Passo Gardena, about 2.136 mt high: the view of the valleys, the surrounding peaks and the little villages all around is breathtaking. Giovanni and I came here again by night: to see the most amazing starry sky we’ve ever seen (hopefully there was no full moon!), and you can see the pic on Instagram. Corvara is a quiet town, trendy and full of gourmet restaurant, bakeries and ski slopes!

Holidays In The Snow: Our Winter Trip On the Mountain!
We stayed atHotel Col Alto, a well-known hotel that offers tradition and great since the 1930s. The facility is near the ski slopes just in the center of Corvara. You’ll fall in love with the modern design of the rooms (wood, red and tartan fabrics, sofas and gourmet sweet waiting for you) and the common area, where you can have a sip of strong liquor or an hot chocolate in front of the fire place of the bar, the atmosphere is super cozy! The SPA is not to be missed (of more than 1.000 sq m) with indoor pool, herbs bath, sea-salt steam sauna and many treatments. Pure relax after a day of ski or hiking! But what I appreciated the most is the food: we eat really well, gourmet dishes, local produce, delicate and balanced flavors. I recommend you to try the restaurant of the hotel even if your not a guest ( it would be a pity, because you’ll miss the delicious custard croissants for breakfast… slurp!).If you choose this hotel you’ll have a strategic position to visit other villages where shopping lovers can enjoy many different Christmas market and nice shops: Ortisei, Santa Cristina, Brunico, Cortina..
For the second part of our holiday we moved to Siusi Alp, the highest plateau in Europe, in the heart of Dolomites. Panoramas are breathtaking (you can stop and skate on Fie’ little like if it’s frozen, see the photos), you could look at this views all day long. We decided to stop here at Siusi Alp because of the unique landscape: just think that, to limit traffic and preserve the environment, the access to Suisi Alp is allowed only for some hours by night.
Here you can findl’Alpina Dolomites Hotel, a resort in which you can completely relax at an altitude of about a 1.800 mt, surrounded by alpine landscape and tranquility. that’s the perfect place for those who love nature, sport and wellness. Besides the wonderful design of the facility, the room with an outstanding view on on the peaks and the ski slopes around the hotel (where you can easily rent all the skiing equipment and book some lesson with a teacher!) and amazing details like furnitures, white duvets and wood. The philosophy of Alpine Wellness all about harmony between body and soul. In the wonderful wellness area you can dive into outdoor heated pool, relax with hot stem inside Turkish baths or indulge in one of their treatments. You can choose a “full package” from three to five days. That sounds great! I warn you that once you’ll get back home you’re going to miss the delicious sweet and savory afternoon buffet: delicious! And what about gourmet dinners with five courses? And let’s talk about the cheese buffet? Or the endless breakfast with the view on the slopes? A dream came true…
Enjoy all the photos of my trip :)
